Dr. William Wirchansky Appointed Director of Neurosurgery at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center
Brooklyn, NY — We are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. William Wirchansky as the new Director of Neurosurgery at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center (WHMC) in the Bushwick section of Brooklyn. In this role, Dr. Wirchansky will lead the Division of Neurosurgery’s Brain & Spine Program, driving excellence in patient care, surgical innovation, and community outreach.
About Dr. Wirchansky
Dr. Wirchansky is a board-certified neurosurgeon with a dual focus in brain and spine surgery. His expertise covers a broad range of neurosurgical conditions:
- Brain tumors, head trauma, hydrocephalus
- Cervical and lumbar spine disorders, spine trauma and tumors
Dr. Wirchansky completed his medical degree at the New York University School of Medicine in 2002, followed by residency in neurological surgery at the University of Maryland Medical Center.

As he steps into the Director role at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center—a key teaching and safety-net hospital in Brooklyn’s 374 Stockholm Street campus —Dr. Wirchansky brings leadership and vision to a department committed to comprehensive neurosurgical care for a diverse urban community. His mandate includes:
- Elevating outcomes through modern surgical techniques and individualized patient plans
- Expanding minimally-invasive spine and brain surgery options
